Move to a new phone
On the old phone you create a password-protected move file; opening it on the new phone brings your credential list and history, and you get the credentials themselves from the institutions again.
Topics in this guide
Before you start
- Your old phone is with you and opens.
- A way to get the file to the new phone (e.g. email it to yourself).
- An internet connection.
Steps
Step 1: On the old phone: Settings → Documents → Move to a new phone
The screen shows what moves. Moves: your credential list, your activity history. Stays: the credentials themselves, keys.
Step 2: Choose a password and tap Create and share
Type the password twice. Send the file to yourself in a safe way with the share menu.
Step 3: On the new phone, set up the wallet and open the file
Tap “Coming from another phone? Open your move file” on the home screen, or Settings → Documents → Move to a new phone → Open a file on this phone.
Step 4: Paste the file content, enter the password, tap Open
At “Restore your history?” tap Restore or Not now.
Step 5: Get your credentials again
In the “Get your credentials again” list, tap Get again for each one. To take a break, tap Continue later.
Good to know
- Keys never leave the phone, which is why credentials are issued again by the institutions.
- Keep the password: without it the file cannot be opened. Tamga cannot recover it.
- To move only your history, use History → Export log.
- If you will not use the old phone any more, you can close the old wallet with the lost phone steps.
